Are you curious about ways to improve eyesight naturally? Is it even possible?

What the tips found in this post won’t do is replace your need for glasses or contacts if a corrective prescription is required. What these suggestions can do is improve your eye comfort, overall eye health, and yes, you just might see better eye exam results as a bonus!

How do I know, you ask? My husband and I both have personally adopted these changes and have gotten improved reports from our eye doctor.

In fact, my husband had to see a retinal specialist a few years ago due to what appeared to be a pocket of inflammation and wet macular degeneration.

The report that day seemed a bit grim, but praise be to God! We put these tips on how to improve eyesight naturally into practice and we now celebrate major improvement because of it.

Are you suffering from eye-strain? Or is your vision just not what it used to be? In this post, I share 7 ways to improve eyesight naturally. They’ve worked for us! #eyehealth #eyesight #vision

Is it possible to improve eyesight naturally?

Based on our experience as described above, and the experience of others, the answer is yes! Some people will see major improvements while others need a little more help.

It is essential that we always go about improving our health in every way possible. Most of us will exercise and eat well to maintain physical health and stay fit.

Yet, many people forget about other areas of physical health they should take their time to protect like the eyes and skin.  Our eyes may be the window to our soul but they give us a pretty good view of our overall wellness too!

Below is a guide to improve eyesight naturally with simple, actionable steps, that will protect your peepers for a lifetime.

See an eye specialist when you have a concern

Please, take your eye health seriously. Don’t put off routine eye exams and don’t dismiss any changes in your vision. Many diseases can be caught early just by visiting your Optometrist!

Whenever you have a concern about your eyes, whether it is your vision or pain, it is best to book an appointment with an eye specialist as soon as possible

Using an ophthalmologist & eye care specialist you can discuss your eye care questions and worries, from needing new glasses to cataracts concerns.

There is no good that comes from leaving the issue unmentioned. Getting it checked can rule out anything serious, prevent worsening of your symptoms, and even prevent longterm damage to your eyes.

If cost is a concern, ask if they have payment options or discount programs available. If you are in the United States, there are some programs available that help with optical care financial aid. Maybe you’d qualify?

Have an updated and correct prescription + wear it!

For those that wear glasses, or feel that they need glasses, it is essential to wear the correct lenses. If you wear lenses that are too strong or too weak, then you will likely experience eye strain, which can lead to worse issues.

Strain can cause the eyes to become weaker, headaches to become stronger, and more.

Always attend your routine eye tests and ensure that the lenses that you are wearing are the correct prescription.

Even if you do not feel you need glasses, it is always a good idea to attend the tests so that you can be sure. Going without corrective lenses for too long can cause your eyesight to worsen very quickly.

Supplements may be able to help

I know that supplements are not for everyone and may not even help everyone. Plus, we all react differently to different things.

For us, however, we are big believers in the help they provide because we have seen the benefits of them firsthand!

Almost every day, my husband takes three different eye supplements. Even our Optometrist has become a believer because of the improvements he witnessed!

If you’re interested in learning more, the ones we currently take are these:

I’m not a medical doctor and am not making any official claims here. All I can say is that for us, these have made all the difference and I am so grateful for them! I hope you can say the same.

Adopt healthier lifestyle habits

Try to stop rubbing your eyes

When your eyes are irritated, rubbing them can actually worsen your symptoms and even cause damage to the lens of your eye or your cornea.

Worse yet, rubbing your eyes or face with unwashed hands is also one of the easiest ways to spread infection, including Covid-19.

It’s important to find out why your eyes are bothering you. You may be suffering from any of the below:

There are other causes as well, of course, but these seem to be the most common. Getting your eyes checked can help you understand your own discomfort and find a solution for it.

If eye strain from too much screen time is your problem, try eye exercises that help relax those optical muscles.

Improve your eyesight naturally with food

A healthy balanced diet helps our well-being in a whole lot of ways and our eyes are no exception to this rule. For example, eating plenty of antioxidant-rich foods is a simple way to improve eyesight naturally.

Other foods that protect your vision are:

Don’t forget the 20-20-20 rule

Improving your eyesight naturally can be as simple as lessening the strain your eyes experience each day. In our modern world of technology, they’re feeling it now more than ever!

Whenever possible, we really need to limit our screen time as much as we can! Have a no-technology nature day to disconnect from it all!

When that isn’t doable, this tip below can help.

The 20-20-20 rule is simple. It was developed by Optometrist, Dr. Jeffrey Anshel after seeing patients suffering from this very issue.

Every 20 minutes, take a 20 second break, and focus on something 20 feet away.

This effective method reduces eye fatigue and helps you feel less tired during your day. Who knows we do feel sleepy when our eyes are fatigued? I sure do!

Our bodies let us know when they need a break; it’s our job to listen!

Bringing it all together

In this post, we’ve talked about the different ways to improve eyesight naturally and proven methods for how to do it.

There are many things about our eye health that we can’t change, like genetics. However, there are more things we can do to help our bodies (including our eyes) heal.

When we bring everything together like getting enough quality sleep, changing our unhelpful lifestyle habits, adding superfoods into our diets, giving our eyes a break, and being sure to visit our eye-care professional regularly, we can protect our precious gift of sight.

I’d love to hear from you in the comments section below! Your conversations are a lot of fun!
