Fatigue. Tiredness. Lack of energy. Exhaustion. Drained. Whatever we call it, feeling like our energy tank is stuck on “E” is incredibly frustrating, and often, it is debilitating. Learning how to beat tiredness, in my humble opinion, isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution.
If you are experiencing overwhelming fatigue, I believe it is our body’s not-so-subtle way of telling us that something isn’t right. Maybe we need to slow down our pace, maybe we are imbalanced spiritually, nutritionally or chemically. Whatever it is – pay attention. It is only then we can heal from what ails us.
Like many of you do, I know how life can throw us problems we never saw coming. In times of stress, emotional overwhelm, and persistent difficulties, our bodies become as tired as our souls are weary. We long for good change.
Yes, I know, there are times we’d rather just give up, throw in the towel emotionally, and resign ourselves to those cozy blankets in our beds!
Some days may feel like more than we can handle. If that’s you, my love and thoughts are extending to you right now. This Scripture below is one I hold very dear to my heart …
He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; He offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.Isaiah 40:29-31
Prior to my supernatural healing, it was nothing for me to be so bone-tired exhausted that I slept for over 24 hours and awoke being unaware of what day or time it was.
That’s why I want to be clear – this collaborative post is not intended to downplay or dismiss the kind of exhaustion from medical conditions that change your whole life.
Instead, this collaborative post will focus on a few basic reminders to beat tiredness for good foundational health. Some of us (*ahem*) can be kind of hard-headed, right?!?
There will be much more in-depth posts to come. Stay tuned!
Going Back to the Basics Can Help Us Beat Tiredness for Good
Do you feel drained every day? Are you making plans for your evening while you’re at work, only to gravitate to the sofa once you’re at home and stay there all night? You’re not alone.
Exhaustion and burnout affect nearly three-quarters of all Americans, but just because it feels the norm doesn’t mean you should accept it.
We all want to enjoy our lives more, right? Most of us when asked the question, “Would you like to have more energy?,” will answer with an enthusiastic, “YES PLEASE!”
Here are four tips to beat tiredness and boost your energy by simply making choices that enhance your life, instead of exhaust it.
Life wearing you out? Don’t forget these 4 basic tips to beat tiredness to get the pep back in your step! #health #wellness #fatigue #stress #healthychoicesTweet
Stop Working So Hard!
It can be easier said than done, but too many people fall into the trap of working because they feel guilty when they don’t. This is especially an issue for people who work from home, as their laptop is right there, and even a short break can feel like you’re stealing time.
However, if you never let your brain switch off, you won’t get the mental and physical rest you need.
Over time, you’ll find that you struggle to do anything but think about work. What’s worse is that even if you enjoy what you do – you will begin to resent it for the energy drain it has become.
“Overwork kills your creativity because an idle brain is anything but idle. When you take time to rest, your Default Network lights up, connecting pieces of your brain that don’t usually talk to one another,” says Erin Wildermuth.
She goes on to explain that this time of rest results in explosions of creativity and fresh inspiration! Frustrated because you can’t solve an issue? Feeling stuck or uninspired? Take a break!
Our minds and our bodies NEED rest!
So, give yourself a designated start and finish time and only work within these hours. You need your off-time to relax and think of something else or simply do what you love to do because you love it!
You’ll find that when you come back to your project, you are fresh, clear-headed, and far more productive.
You are not and were not created to be a fictitious superhero! Don’t compare yourself or your progress to anyone but yourself. Do your personal best and know that it is enough! YOU are enough!
Sleep to Recharge
If you’re someone that loves a nap, this could be why you feel so exhausted all the time. Napping can be useful in small doses, but for some people, it might make it difficult for you to get to sleep later on, which will disrupt your sleep pattern and create a complicated cycle that is difficult to escape from.
Try skipping your nap-time consistently. If sleeping becomes easier at night, you just might have your answer!
** Holly’s note: For me personally, naps have proven to be a God-send when I genuinely need them. They do not seem to interrupt my natural sleep rhythm, which is why I think it’s important to find what works (or doesn’t) for you personally.
It goes back to the beginning of this post – there is no one-size-fits-all solution!
Kick Bad Habits
Everyone has bad habits that they know they should stop. But, it’s often easier to sink back towards these habits instead of making positive changes. It’s like a security blanket of sorts because it feels good at the moment.
Cigarette smoking, for example, lowers your oxygen levels and fatigues your body. It also can create a ‘high’ with a similar energy crash to sugar!
Any of our bad habits create a major health deficit over time that leaves us sluggish. Stopping bad habits may not be easy, but they always have a great reward in the end!
Always remember: we get out of our bodies what we put in. They are much like bank accounts. Without making deposits, we can’t keep making withdrawals and not expect consequences.
If junky/fast food is your bad habit, try swapping one unhealthy food for a healthy option instead. You can take it slowly, one day at a time, that’s okay!
Have convenient, fast and healthy foods or snacks already prepared ahead of time. Trust me, this makes healthy living a LOT easier!
Feed your body foods that are high in antioxidants to give you a healthy and easy replacement for foods that offer no nutritional benefit. Best of all? They can still be delicious!

We can beat tiredness by prioritizing our health and wholeness in all the ways that count – great and small.
Sometimes, your energy levels are low because of vitamin or mineral deficiencies. It’s tricky to make sure you eat the right foods to balance these, which is why you should think about the Pros and Cons of Herbal Supplements.
You could also consider more advanced detoxification to enhance your health. For example, one of the many liposomal glutathione benefits is natural energy support.
Picking the right supplements will make it easier to balance and restore any deficiencies without needing to go out of your way to add ingredients to your meals. You can take one with breakfast, lunch, or dinner without any problems.
Energized to Live Life Fully
Our energy comes from more than just a good night’s sleep and a better diet. To be honest, I personally believe that one of the best ways to beat tiredness is to live on purpose.
What do I mean? When we wake up each day with a goal in mind that we can accomplish and that we are excited about, we feel challenged in a good way. We keep moving forward.
You were created on purpose, for a purpose. What makes your heart sing? What brings you joy and fulfillment? What gifts are unique to you that you can offer this world? Pursue that! It is God’s calling card in your life, leading you to the fulfillment and energy you seek.
It takes time to see results, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t see a difference immediately. Instead, persevere, even in the midst of challenges, and you will be amazed at the results long-term. You & God have got this!
Hey friend, I want to hear from you in the comments below!
What is your best tip to beat tiredness? Do you struggle with any of the above? Let’s encourage one another to live our best lives!
Sending My Love & Best To Each of You,
My Prayer For You:
Father God, I thank you for my friend reading this. I thank you for their life, their heart, and the purpose you created them to fulfill. You created them as one-of-a-kind and no one could ever be them!
Lord, I ask in the name of Jesus that by the power of your Holy Spirit, you would reveal those things that are draining instead of filling their lives. Give them Your wisdom to remove these hindrances from their lives so they can walk in total freedom.
Father, I ask you to restore all that the enemy has stolen in their life: their health, their finances, their energy, their relationships, or any other area where loss has occurred. I command the enemy pay back 7 fold what was lost, according to Your Word in Proverbs 6:31.
You know how to beat tiredness, Lord. You are the answer. Reveal it to their hearts and minds in Jesus’ mighty and matchless name. We believe it is done, amen and amen.
Oh, your tips are on point, Holly. I particularly agree on the sleep. Why do we take it for granted? It is so wonderful and healthy that we should make it a non-negotiable actually!
I smiled when I read your comment, thank you! And AMEN — I wholeheartedly agree about sleep. It seems this current culture wants to give out awards for how little sleep we can get while boasting about how much work we can do. I don’t understand it. Every deficit we create in our lives will eventually come calling. There will be consequences, especially for something as critical as sleep. Rest is a beautiful gift that restores and heals our bodies. We all may have different optimal amounts of sleep but it’s definitely a non-negotiable, as you say!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I love hearing from you!
Holly, this is another great article! Thank you for your Godly advice. Love you!
Dearest Janet, I love you to pieces! Your words have lifted my spirit this day. Thank you! I love you too, sweet friend. I look forward to getting back in touch! 😘
I find that fatigue is a bit part of my life since living with chronic illness, and with ME/CFS. It’s a little different with that kind of body exhaustion and while there may never be anything I can do to really improve it to the level I’d like (unless there’s a miracle – I wish!) there are ways to better manage it and to improve energy where we can. A fabulous idea for a collaborative post as tiredness and lack of energy is something that affects so many. I think it gets worse at times like this, when it’s high stress and people are feeling fed up and disheartened by the events in the world and the pandemic. I’m a big fan of supplements given my issues with eating and absorption so they’ve been so, so helpful since having my stoma. And you’re absolutely right with not working so hard – we rarely give ourselves enough time to properly rest, and that means without thinking or stressing too! Great tips 🙂
It genuinely breaks my heart to know of all the ways you suffer in your health, Caz. While some of our conditions may have been different, I can honestly speak from a place of understanding exactly where you’re coming from. I did receive a miracle healing from the Lord when I was inches away from dying. I believe He can heal you too! 😘 That’s one of the many reasons my prayers and love are with you.
You’re absolutely right about this being a topic most, if not everyone, can relate to on some level. As you say, there are different kinds of fatigue, as well as causes. It’s one of the biggest reasons I started off this post by saying how I recognize the differences. Fatigue and exhaustion wreck people’s lives and I believe it’s a topic that deserves a compassion to match that level of frustration.
Like you, I believe in supplements too. You said it right — during these times of higher stress and overwhelm, our bodies do need extra support. That could mean more rest, nutritional supplements, or some grace to just simply ‘be’ without having to DO anything. Our bodies do let us know when we are out of balance in our minds, bodies, spirits and souls. It’s one of the reasons behind the name “Wholeness Haven.” We were never created to be unwell in one area of our lives without it affecting everything else.
I do pray that you show yourself some grace this day and always, my friend. You do SO much and are more than worthy of taking care of you, doing what you love, and finding as many ways to smile each day as possible. I value you and love you to pieces. 🤗
This is so timely! I just talked with a friend who started with a mlm who has a product around this issue and am going to try it out because since having COVID, this has been soooo bad. I can’t seem to break through a sluggish feeling since December. I’m thinking part of it is the emotional residue of what’s happening around me and having no live contact with friends for almost a year, but there is something more as well.
These tips are helpful for the other bad habits I have though, such as getting so lost in my work I don’t sleep enough, or not taking enough supplements, and forgetting to claim scripture over myself!
I hear you Shell and I am so sorry that you’re dealing with the sluggish feeling too. You’re right – a lot of what we are feeling is the residue of emotional turmoil all around, in our personal lives and in the world around us. We often underestimate how deep the impact of those daily traumas can be! I heard a message from T.D. Jakes last night entitled, “Trauma, Triggers and Triumph.” It was such a powerful, on-time word of encouragement for all of us who feel wearied in one way or another.
We really do have to give ourselves grace, especially during times of chaos when we are doing the best we can! My prayer for you is that you begin to experience restoration and healing in every area of your life. I pray for the healing balm of Gilead to wash over you in a powerful way, bringing health & vitality like you’ve never experienced it before!
So often, when we feel like everything is out of control – we begin to get hyper-vigilant about the things we think we *can* control. That’s when we begin to see patterns like overworking, not sleeping enough (etc) come in full force. We long for a sense of ‘normal’ and so we fall back into familiar patterns that feel comfortable to us. It’s a distraction of sorts from the chaos and confusion. Whatever you do, I pray that you remember how worthy you are in every way. I pray that the overwhelming presence of Holy Spirit would saturate your home and your life, leading you into His perfect peace at all times, no matter what!
Love you, Shell! Thank you for always being such an encouragement. You are awesome! 😘
I’ll check out that message! Thank you for your prayers. I love knowing how we cover one another in prayer!
Some great advice in here, Holly. Thank you <3
Hoping that you are well. Sending lots of love your way x
Thank you so much, my sweet friend. I receive your love & send much love right back to you! I look forward to catching up with you soon! 😘 I pray that you and yours are well?
Thank you, my beautiful Holly.
We are all okay thanks – health wise we are actually doing rather well. Emotionally too. There seems to have been a strange shift. Could it be that the kids and I are changing our attitudes? 😛 (And getting better at it!!! 😉 )
Some days become physically impossible… but we go with the flow. Because we get given new days, and we’re stronger then 😉
Lots of love, thoughts and prayers to you and yours <3
Good tips you shared, ma’am. Mine is resting well and learning to take breaks in between work. And yes to eating healthy. 😊💯
You are so kind sis, thank you! I love how driven you are and how much of an impact you have for the Kingdom of God. You are a treasure that is not going unnoticed. God is so very proud of you, precious daughter of His!
I pray that each day you realize more and more how much you are loved, how special you are, and how beautiful your smile is. I pray that you find ways to experience more joy, happiness, and moments of pure peace and rest in the presence of your loving Father. 😘
Love all these fabulous points . It is true sleep is so important to rejuvenate and minimizing junk food especially in this cold weather where it can be so tempting . The best of all I liked living on purpose .Totally agree nothing can energize like it. Thanks for the wonderful reminders dear Holly.! Have a great weekend.
Sweet Nisha, once again, I love reading your comments! Isn’t it funny how colder months often leave us reaching for those unhealthy foods? You & I both know that sometimes those treats are just what the doctor ordered! 😉
Amen! I wholeheartedly agree with you about how living in our purpose energizes us like nothing else. Even when we need to step away for a while – our purpose on this Earth will gently draw us back in. It’s a beautiful thing really. It does my heart so much good to know that you are walking out your purpose and are bringing joy into so many lives – including mine. Sending my love to you and prayers that your week is blessed. 🤗
I nominated you for the Mystery Blogger Award. Check out today’s post for the details.
You are so kind Ena, thank you for thinking of me! 😘
These are such great tips lovely Holly. When we are powering on with life we forget the importance of sleep. During the years I was caring full time for my parents I rarely got a full night of sleep but you learn to keep going because you have to keep going. When they both passed to God, very close together, it took me almost a year to get used to going to bed and sleeping all night. Now my bed is my haven, I have made it so cosy I now look forward to bedtime. I read or listen to relaxation podcasts that drift me off to sleep. The sleep has made such a difference to my life.
One of my favourite psalms during the caring days and even now is “Come to me all you who carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest”. Sometimes you are so weary you just need the Jesus kind of rest.
Sending you lots of love and sparkles Holly, God bless xx
Precious Dawn, you are so right! “You learn to keep going because you have to keep going.” Isn’t it incredible how much God’s strength truly is made perfect in our weakness? When we look back on the times in life when we shouldn’t have been able to do what we did, it is a powerful reminder of the wonders of our Father. I am so sorry that you went through so much with your parents. Caretakers have a very difficult role to play in this life, don’t they? You are an amazing woman. Thank you for taking such care and love for your folks. I can only imagine how much it must have meant to them, even if/when they couldn’t express it themselves!
Yes! I wholeheartedly agree with you about sleep and making our beds and bedrooms the coziest, most inviting place possible. Science has proven that what we *think* about our beds has a profound impact on our sleep quality. If we don’t find our spaces to be those havens as you describe, our sleep suffers. Isn’t how we are wired truly remarkable? It makes me so happy to hear that you have a space where you can unwind, destress, and find a true sanctuary from all of life’s messes!
Oh Dawn, I am saying a huge amen to what you said about coming to Jesus with our heavy burdens. Amen, amen, amen! I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t live this life without Jesus. The God-kind-of-rest you describe is the only way we get through some days, isn’t it? It’s such a beautiful exchange — our worries, burdens, and stress for his rest. Thank you Jesus!
Endless love, sparkles, and big bear hugs headed right to you. Love you, Dawn. You are so very special. God bless you! 💓
Thank you so much Holly for your lovely comments, they mean the world to me. It’s just so good to chat with someone who has a total understanding of where I’m coming from, my beliefs and where we draw strength from. I definitely think we crossed paths for a reason. God bless the internet as we are from different sides of this wonderful world. Even in times of this awful pandemic, we have stretched out over the oceans to meet ❤
I downloaded the Calm app and I find it helps me daily with peace, calm and reflections on how I’m feeling. Every day it asks me for three things I’m thankful for. One is always God. Two is always my wonderful b/f and the third is whatever I’m feeling at the time; my home, food on the table, my family and friends. It helps to keep you grounded and wind down for sleep.
Sending you lots of love and sparkles, God bless you Holly xxx
Amen, Dawn! I second everything you said. I too believe that God crossed our paths for a reason. Your loving kindness brightens my day each time, thank you so much!
I am so happy to hear that the Calm app is helping you. I love what you said about how it asks for 3 things you’re thankful for each day. Wow, what a beautiful way to put the right perspective at the forefront of our minds. Some days we have to be intentional about being grateful with all the challenges we face. I love that God is always on your list. Where would we be without His love? Honestly, I know that I simply wouldn’t be here today… and I’m thankful you are too!
You always have my love, sweet Dawn. God bless you! Thank you again for being so special! ❤
Living with purpose for the win 🙋♀️ YESSSS! This post is so important as the pandemic continues to weigh on peoples’ shoulders. I love that you give us actionable tips to start to get more energy back. Especially at the start of the New Year. Thank you for another caring post, dear Holly! 💗
Amen, my friend, amen! It makes my heart smile to hear that living with purpose is a win for you too! It’s so often overlooked, but I believe, as you do, that it’s one of the greatest keys to our daily success. I truly believe we all need something to wake up for, especially when life gets tough. (and we all know it does and will!)
Sending my love to you, dearest Christy. I value you so much more than you know and am grateful for you 😘
This spoke to me in so many ways! I’ve been nothing but exhausted for the past month. I just cannot get it together no matter how hard I try.
I love the idea of living on purpose. What a beautiful life we’ll all live if we live with a purpose!! The Lord has plans for us so we should wake each morning excited to see what His plans are.
What a beautiful prayer!!
Oh Michelle, I am so sorry to hear that you have been exhausted. It has been a lot, hasn’t it? So many things are happening all at once, not including our regular day to day responsibilities. I pray you begin to feel more energized and full of focus every day! There feels like a shift in the spiritual atmosphere has happened (hopefully there too!) which I pray will bring much relief for us weary soldiers! Know that my love and big bear hugs are headed straight to you!
I am in full agreement with you about living on purpose. Isn’t it amazing the difference we feel when we connect to what we are supposed to do each day? There’s something in us that comes alive as we dream and co-create with the Lord. As you said so perfectly, He has plans for us so good that we can’t even begin to imagine how amazing they are! In difficult times – focusing on that purpose, those awesome plans of God’s, and getting some much-needed laughter boosts our spirits in the way we need. I hope today is full of laughter for you!
Thank you Michelle for your sweet words of encouragement. I appreciate you! 😘
Thanks for sharing this very informative and positive information. I have heard that the underlying pandemic under the ccp/covid virus is what has resulted in “pandemic fatigue” — no motivation or sense of time, lack of purpose, tiredness, etc. It may be difficult for so many who have turned away from a spiritual life but I do think relying on God will help to restore us. Warm wishes to you —
I know exactly what you mean about the “pandemic fatigue.” It’s impossible not to feel some kind of effect from such a super-charged environment – emotionally, physically, and spiritually especially. Relying on God to restore us in the wisest thing we can do, I agree. I truly believe it is only in His peace and rest that we will find His loving words calling us back to life.
Thank you with my whole heart for your comment. It is wonderful to hear from you! I pray your week and weekend is full of joy, peace, and boundless love. ❤
And since God is in nature, what better place could there be to spend as much time as possible, not to mention the benefits of fresh air, sunlight and abundant life? ❤
Great ideas Holly. For me sleep, diet, and exercise are so important. But sleep is number one for me. If I don’t get enough I’m no where.
Amen, Michele! I wholeheartedly agree with you. Sleep is absolutely critical. It sure is nice to hear from you. Thank you for your comment! ❤
Great suggestions and I love the prayer you shared at the end.
Aw! Thank you sweet Ena! It is certainly heartfelt. ♥️ I am glad you enjoyed. Sending my love to you!
You have made some GREAT points here. This is a post that I really needed to read right now. I’ve been exhausted as of late. That being said, I know the problem… I definitely fall into the overworking category, failing to give myself the breaks that I need. Thank you for the reminder.
Aw! Thank you, Britt! Your words have encouraged my heart today! It always makes me smile when I realize that something I wrote touches someone’s life.
I am so sorry that you’ve been dealing with exhaustion. It can be debilitating, can’t it? It feels sometimes like a pit we are having a hard time crawling out of. My hope is that today – you will give yourself much grace, much love, and much-needed rest! You definitely need and deserve the breaks. We can’t keep the pace that so many call ‘normal’ these days. We were created for so much more!
Sending my love to you. Thank you again for such a meaningful comment. I’m smiling because of you! 🤗
I have a moulded eagle keyring with Isaiah 40:31 on it. When I struggle to sleep at a good time, to eat the right food, or to make time for God I return to this passage and read it slowly several times. It is often not about doing more, but removing the unnecessary from my life.
Thank you for sharing these helpful tips. 😊
“It is often not about doing more, but removing the unnecessary from my life.” — I absolutely LOVE this, Hamish! You are 100% right. When we try to hold on to things that are clearly no longer ‘for us,’ we do find ourselves becoming increasingly weary. God will use almost anything He can to get our attention! 😉
Thank you so much for your kind words. I never taken them for granted! God bless you!
